Terms of Use
These Terms of Use explain the rules for using Cyber Security Center ("CSC"), including the platform, tools, account access, and professional service request channels.
1. What the platform is for
CSC provides general cybersecurity guidance, educational information, defensive awareness tools, and authorized self-assessment features. CSC is designed to help users review links, websites, visible website exposure, local network visibility, connection information, and related security concerns in a lawful and defensive way.
CSC is not a guarantee of security, a promise that a system is safe, or a substitute for professional advice, incident response, legal advice, or formal security assurance. Results may be incomplete, unavailable, delayed, or wrong.
2. Eligibility and authority
You may use CSC only if you have legal capacity to agree to these Terms and, where relevant, authority to act for yourself, your employer, your client, or another organisation.
If you use CSC for a business, team, or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that person or organisation to these Terms. If you do not have that authority, you must not use CSC for that purpose.
3. Authorized use only
You must use CSC only for systems, websites, networks, devices, services, and data that you own or are explicitly authorised to assess. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use is lawful, properly authorised, and compliant with any contract, policy, or legal duty that applies to you.
If you are not sure whether you are allowed to assess a target, you must not use CSC in relation to that target.
4. Prohibited use
You must not use CSC to attack, exploit, brute force, disrupt, interfere with, overload, scrape at scale, bypass safety controls, or gain unauthorised access to any third-party system, website, service, network, account, or data.
You must not use CSC to test credentials, distribute malware, facilitate phishing, harvest information for offensive use, impersonate ownership or permission, evade rate limits, or submit misleading or false requests. You must not use CSC in a way that violates law, regulation, court order, sanctions, export controls, contractual restrictions, or the rights of others.
5. Tool-specific limitations
CSC provides lightweight checks and defensive awareness features. Link and website tools may rely on public signals, passive checks, and third-party data sources. The website security review is a passive-only basic review in the current product version. The network scan relies on a local agent and reflects only what the local environment and scan can honestly detect.
CSC does not promise complete discovery, full vulnerability coverage, exploit validation, live adversary detection, or comprehensive penetration testing. If you need deeper assessment, remediation, or incident handling, you should request professional help.
6. Accounts and verification
CSC currently uses passwordless email-code access. If your email address is verified successfully, CSC may create an account automatically or sign you in to an existing account. You must provide a valid email address that you are entitled to use.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser session, and email inbox. CSC may suspend, revoke, or restrict access if it detects misuse, suspicious activity, fraud risk, or policy breaches.
7. Local agent and local network tools
The local network scan tool is intended for your own local/private network and relies on a local agent that runs on your device. CSC does not claim that local network data will be available on every device, browser, network, or operating system.
You must not attempt to use the local agent or network scan flow against networks you do not own or are not explicitly authorised to assess. CSC may block or limit access if it detects misuse or an attempt to turn the tool into a public scanning service.
8. Professional services enquiries
CSC may provide a request form for a deeper professional assessment or incident support. Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance, availability, response time, scope, or engagement. Any paid or professional service would require separate agreement, scope, and commercial terms.
9. User submissions
You are responsible for any information, URLs, domains, messages, or other content that you submit to CSC. You must not submit unlawful content, confidential information you are not allowed to share, malicious payloads, or material that infringes the rights of another person.
You grant CSC a limited right to use submitted information as needed to operate the service, review requests, support lawful use, investigate abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
10. Logging, abuse handling, and disclosures
CSC may log access requests, tool usage, scan metadata, consent confirmations, policy acceptance, session details, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser/session metadata, abuse indicators, and security-relevant events in order to operate the service, enforce policy, investigate misuse, and protect users and the platform.
If CSC reasonably suspects misuse, fraud, unlawful activity, or a breach of these Terms, CSC may preserve relevant records, restrict access, investigate, and disclose information where required by law, court order, lawful regulatory request, or where otherwise permitted or required for the prevention or detection of crime or abuse.
11. Intellectual property
CSC, its branding, platform content, interface design, software, and related materials remain the property of CSC or its licensors unless stated otherwise. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
You may use CSC for your own lawful internal use in accordance with these Terms. You must not copy, resell, reverse engineer, republish, or create derivative commercial products from CSC except where the law permits and CSC has not lawfully restricted that activity.
12. Suspension and termination
CSC may limit, suspend, or terminate access immediately if it reasonably believes that you have breached these Terms, used the platform unlawfully, created risk for others, or threatened the security or integrity of the service.
Suspension or termination does not limit CSC's right to preserve evidence, cooperate with lawful requests, or take other protective action.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CSC provides the platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis. CSC does not warrant uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy, suitability for a particular purpose, or that any result is definitive, current, or error-free.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that law does not allow to be excluded.
Subject to that, CSC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or loss-of-profit damages arising from or connected with your use of the platform, your reliance on results, or your inability to use the service.
14. Consumer rights savings clause
If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect any mandatory legal rights that apply to you under applicable law. If a term is unenforceable, the rest of these Terms will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
15. Changes to these Terms
CSC may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the service, security measures, legal requirements, or business operations. The latest version and effective date will be shown on this page. If continued access requires renewed acceptance, CSC may request that acceptance before you continue to use the service.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you additional rights that cannot be excluded.
Subject to any mandatory local rights, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of CSC.
17. Contact details
CSC can be contacted using the public contact details published on the service or through the assessment request page at /assessment-request/.
If you need to raise a legal, compliance, or policy question, include enough detail for CSC to understand the issue and respond appropriately.
